My Story

I wanted to share with you why I deeply value public education and why I am committed to strengthening and nurturing Edmonton Public Schools. I had a wonderful upbringing here in Edmonton - my life was rich with creativity, but supported with very little money. My parents were new immigrants, so travelling over the holidays and extracurricular activities were not an option. But thanks to Edmonton Public Schools, I had a world class education, including the IB program, and thanks to the wonderful Edmonton Public Schools’ Strings Enrichment program, I was able to learn to play violin, and I played in several orchestras including the Edmonton Youth Orchestra. I feel so fortunate to have attended a truly inclusive and world class education system where, even without resources at home, I was able to get a fantastic education, and pursue many passions.
Public Education gave me the opportunities that shaped my life.

Today, as my children go through our public school system, I am witnessing how resources are becoming tighter and tighter every year, and this is impacting all aspects of their experience. As your Public School Trustee, I will be committed to always standing up for kids, so they have the very best: a world class education plus a warm, nurturing environment that prioritizes kids’ well being and growth with every decision. This is a commitment that I have demonstrated through years of School Council, Parent Society, and Education Advocacy roles and through my own music education business, Nancy’s Notes.

It is my commitment to work with transparency, collaboration and sound analysis to represent you and put kids first in all our education decisions. I am grateful for this nomination and for your support.
